About the course

Postnatal Pilates offer one of the safest and most effective ways to strengthen, realign and get back into shape after having a baby. It aids in a quicker postpartum recovery and strengthens the body and mind for the new demands of motherhood. It focuses on building and strengthening your deep abdominal muscles and pelvic floor muscles.

 

Whether you have had a vaginal or cesarean delivery, a safe pilates workout is developed to target particular muscle groups problem areas that mothers face after pregnancy.

Classes are also a great way to meet other mums, with whom you can share your experiences, worries and thoughts. This, in turn, has a positive effect on your mental health.

Course Overview

Each 55 minute class will include:

  • Back to basics pilates and regaining strength post partum

  • Static contractions, low load, eccentric exercises

  • Target external obliques to knit abdominals together to help heal diastasis recti

  • Exercises to relieve lower back pain and shoulder tension

  • Balance, strength and coordination

  • Focus on alignment and posture

    We ensure that you work to your own body's specifications whilst learning the exercises with proper technique so that you reach your full potential and regain your strength post delivery.

    It is recommended that you wait a minimum of six to eight weeks after delivery to start exercising again. However, if you have had a cesarean section, then it is highly recommended that you wait eight to twelve weeks before starting postnatal Pilates. Jane is a wonderful, encouraging and supportive instructor. I was sceptical of Pilates before starting sessions with Jane, but she was recommended by my physio following an operation and I now never miss my weekly session of reformer pilates. I am thoroughly enjoying the reformer; it is quite different to mat pilates and definitely gets results. Jane ensures each session is individually tailored to meet your needs and goals.
